Why are my small SVG details tearing when I weed?
The design is too small for the material. Scale up until the thinnest line is at least a quarter inch for HTV, use a new fine-point blade, and try the More pressure setting.

How do I unzip a downloaded SVG folder?
On Windows, right-click and choose Extract All. On Mac, double-click the zip. On iPhone, tap the zip in Files and it expands into a folder. Cutting software cannot read a file that is still zipped.
Why does my SVG open in a browser instead of my design software?
Browsers claim the .svg extension by default. Do not use Open With — instead import the file from inside Design Space or Silhouette Studio, which always works.
Why does my SVG look blank or white when I preview it?
The artwork is probably white on a white background, which is common for text overlays. Drop it onto a colored canvas in your cutting software and it appears.
Can I download free SVG files on my phone or iPad?
Yes. Every download works on mobile. Save the file, then upload it directly into the Design Space or Silhouette app from Files.
Why is my downloaded file a .txt or .html file?
Some browsers rename downloads. Change the extension back to .svg and it opens normally, or try downloading again in a different browser.

How do I convert a JPG to an SVG?
You have to trace it, because a JPG has no vector data and no transparency. Results are only as good as the source, so start from the highest-resolution image you have.
How do I convert an SVG to PDF for printing?
Open the SVG in any vector editor and export or print to PDF. The vector paths stay sharp at any print size.
What is the difference between SVG and EPS?
Both are vector formats. EPS is the older print-industry standard; SVG is the web and cutting-machine standard and is what Cricut and Silhouette expect.

Why is my heat transfer vinyl peeling off after washing?

Do I peel HTV hot or cold?
Whichever the carrier sheet specifies — it varies by brand. Peeling a cold-peel vinyl while hot lifts the design straight off the shirt.

What weight card stock should I use for SVG paper crafts?

How do I cut a layered SVG in different colors?
Upload the SVG, keep the layers ungrouped, assign each layer to its own mat, and load a different material for each mat when Design Space asks.
How do I line up layers perfectly?
Use transfer tape and align the largest base layer first, then work smallest last. Registration marks — small corner squares you remove afterward — help on complex stacks.
What is an offset and when should I use one?
An offset adds an outline around a design. Use it to add a contrasting border behind script text, or to make thin details strong enough to weed.
What does knockout mean in SVG design?
A knockout removes the overlapping area from a lower layer so the layers sit flush instead of stacking up. Cricut's Slice tool creates one on two shapes at a time.
Can I split a layered SVG into single-color files?
